SIRSI: A chilling incident has come to light in Sirsi, Uttara Kannada district. A well-known doctor, who was all set to tie the knot for the second time, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his own home. The incident occurred in the city's KHB Colony, and it is strongly suspected that he was assaulted and murdered.
What Happened?
The deceased has been identified as Dr. Ramesh Kalagutkar. Originally a native of Kundgol Taluk in Dharwad district, he had been running a private clinic opposite the bus depot in Sirsi for several years. Residing in KHB Colony, Dr. Ramesh was scheduled to get married for the second time tomorrow (Monday).
Death Strikes Amidst Wedding Celebrations!
This evening, his elder brother and other relatives arrived at the Sirsi residence with wedding preparations. Upon arrival, they found the front door locked. Initially assuming Dr. Ramesh had gone out, the brother grew suspicious after some time. When they broke open the lock and entered, they were met with a spine-chilling sight—Dr. Ramesh’s lifeless body was lying inside the house.
Killers Locked the Door After the Crime
According to preliminary information, the assailants allegedly assaulted and murdered Dr. Ramesh. To avoid immediate suspicion, the killers locked the front door from the outside before fleeing the scene. There is a strong suspicion that the crime was committed for gold ornaments kept in the house, though police are also looking into potential personal vendettas.
Police Visit and Investigation
As soon as the matter was reported, Sirsi DySP Geeta Patil visited the spot to conduct an inspection. The case has been registered under the jurisdiction of the Sirsi New Market Police Station. The police have launched a manhunt to track down the killers. A home that should have been filled with the joy of a wedding is now shrouded in silence and mourning.
