Election Commission of India has sanctioned an unprecedented security presence. Around 2.4 lakh personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and state police are being utilized to manage the two-phase polling on April 23 and April 29, 2026.

The ECI has assigned around 2,400 companies of central forces, marking the largest-ever deployment for a state election in India. Personnel from the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB, alongside Indian Reserve Battalions (IRB) and armed police from other states.

2.4 lakhs of armed forces for 3.4 crores voters makes a ratio of one-armed cop for every 100 to 150 voters!!!

700 companies consisting of 70,000 personals will remain there to avoid post-election violence.

That’s the arrangement for the first phase of election in 152 constituencies.

Phase 2 will happen in 142 constituencies and will focus on Sothern Bengal and urban centres. Significant forces are reserved for East Burdwan with 26,000 and Hooghly with 23,400 personals. Additionally, 38,297 state police personnel will be on active duty for this phase.
