"DMK Betrayed Southern States": Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s Serious Allegation

He alleged that the Congress party is misleading its allies and derailing the reform process driven by political motives. "As a representative of the Southern states, I am saying that no injustice would have occurred due to delimitation. Instead, a valuable opportunity has been lost due to the DMK's selfishness," he added.

NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, has lashed out at Tamil Nadu’s DMK party, accusing it of causing significant injustice to other Southern states by opposing the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Sunday, he expressed outrage that the DMK and Congress are creating unnecessary confusion among the public for political gain.

DMK’s U-Turn: HDK’s Objection

"The DMK, which initially expressed support for the Constitutional Amendment Bills, later changed its stance. Because of this, a significant and beneficial opportunity that was meant for the Southern states has been lost," Kumaraswamy stated.

Recalling a meeting convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the third week of March, the Minister said, "All parties were briefed about the Women’s Reservation Bill and the Delimitation proposals. At that time, the DMK had agreed to it. Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin had even suggested convening a Parliament session in June. But now, they have withdrawn support for political reasons, causing a disadvantage to the entire South India."

"No Injustice from Delimitation"

Kumaraswamy dismissed allegations that the delimitation process would be unjust to Southern states.

"If this was indeed detrimental to Southern states, why didn't the Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh oppose it?" he questioned. He alleged that the Congress party is misleading its allies and derailing the reform process driven by political motives. "As a representative of the Southern states, I am saying that no injustice would have occurred due to delimitation. Instead, a valuable opportunity has been lost due to the DMK's selfishness," he added.

Rumors of Zameer Ahmed Rejoining: Kumaraswamy’s Clarification

Meanwhile, responding to rumors about Housing Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan rejoining the JD(S), Kumaraswamy clarified, "No such discussions have taken place." "We will take decisions regarding the expansion of the party independently and judiciously. We will not repeat past mistakes. We have no intention of capitalizing on the political instability of other parties. JD(S) remains committed to value-based politics," he said.
