Bengaluru Bank Official Turns 'Lucky Baskhar': Assistant Manager Loots ₹4 Crore Gold for Online Betting

Customers are pained by the bank’s demand for interest payments even after their gold was stolen. Despite three months passing since the complaint, victims claim they have not received justice and are seen pleading their case in front of the bank.

Bengaluru: A shocking fraud case, rivaling a movie plot, has come to light in the Silicon City. A bank official has betrayed the trust of customers by stealing gold jewelry worth crores of rupees. The incident took place at the Indian Bank branch in Girinagar, where Assistant Manager Kiran allegedly stole ₹4 crore worth of customer gold to fund his online betting addiction and lavish lifestyle.

Background: A Systematic Theft

Kiran, who worked as an Assistant Manager at the Girinagar Indian Bank, reportedly exploited the absence of the Branch Manager to systematically steal gold from the lockers. It is alleged that he stole over 2 kg of gold jewelry pledged by customers and blew the money on online betting.

How the Truth Came to Light

The fraud was exposed when customers arrived at the bank to redeem their pledged gold. Upon checking the lockers, the gold was found missing. Following this discovery, the panicked Bank Manager filed a complaint at the Girinagar Police Station on February 5th. Shortly after the complaint was lodged, the police arrested Kiran.

Customer Outrage Against Police and Bank

The conduct of the police and the bank management in this case has drawn severe criticism from the customers. The key allegations made by the victims are:

Poor Recovery: Although gold worth ₹4 crore (approximately 2 kg) was stolen, customers complain that the police have recovered only 1 kg. There is no information regarding the remaining gold or the money spent.

Bail in Just Three Days: Victims have alleged that despite such a massive scam, the accused Kiran managed to secure bail and was released within just three days. They claim the police failed to take stringent action.

Bank's Irresponsibility: Customers are pained by the bank’s demand for interest payments even after their gold was stolen. Despite three months passing since the complaint, victims claim they have not received justice and are seen pleading their case in front of the bank.

Distraught Customers

"Who can we trust if bank officials themselves resort to such fraud?" ask the distraught customers. There is a growing demand for the Girinagar police to take the investigation seriously, recover the full amount of gold, and ensure that the bank provides justice to its customers.
