Devanahalli: A chilling incident that has shocked the conscience of the public has taken place within the premises of the prestigious Foxconn company. A mother has been accused of slitting the throat of her newborn baby and dumping the body into a toilet pit.

Background: Delivery in the Company Washroom

Renuka, an employee at the Foxconn facility located near Beerasandra village in Devanahalli taluk, Bengaluru Rural district, reportedly went to the company washroom where she unexpectedly went into labor. According to preliminary reports, she gave birth to the infant in the toilet. Fearing social stigma and panic-stricken because she was unmarried, Renuka allegedly decided to kill the newborn.

Extreme Cruelty: Throat Slit and Discarded

Immediately after the birth, the mother allegedly slit the infant's throat. She then dumped the body into the toilet commode and walked out as if nothing had happened. The crime came to light a short while later when another individual entered the washroom and discovered the infant lying in a pool of blood. The company management was immediately alerted, and they subsequently contacted the police.

Police Investigation and Detention

Upon receiving the information, officers from the Vishwanathapura Police Station rushed to the spot. During the inspection, they identified Renuka, an employee of the firm, as the suspect. As she had just given birth and was in a fragile physical state, the police took her into custody and admitted her to a hospital for necessary medical treatment.

Murder Case Registered

A case has been registered against the accused, Renuka, under Section 302 (Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Vishwanathapura Police Station. Initial investigations suggest that the woman took this extreme step to hide her pregnancy out of wedlock. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
