Karnataka Govt’s New Guarantee: Free Bus Travel Extended to Boys in KPS Schools..!

This decision by the government has brought significant financial relief to parents and poor students coming from remote villages to attend KPS schools.

Bengaluru: The Siddaramaiah-led state government has delivered another piece of sweet news to government school students. Responding to the state-wide demand for 'free bus travel for boys,' the government has finally given the green light and announced a new free bus guarantee specifically for students.

What is this new guarantee? Who benefits?

Under the previously launched 'Shakti' scheme, free bus travel was limited only to school-going girls. There was a strong demand from the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the general public to extend this to boys as well. Now, the government has announced free bus facilities for all students studying in KPS (Karnataka Public Schools).

Key Features of the Scheme:

No Gender Discrimination: Just like the girls studying in KPS schools, boys will now enjoy free travel.

Class Limit: This applies to all KPS students from LKG to 2nd PUC (Class 12).

Limited to KPS Schools Only: Currently, this facility is restricted only to those students enrolled in Karnataka Public Schools (KPS).

Model Government Schools: The government is developing these KPS schools to provide quality education from LKG to PUC within a single campus.

KSRTC Bus or Separate Vehicles?

Following this announcement, curiosity has peaked regarding the mode of transport. The government is expected to clarify soon whether students will be allowed free travel in existing KSRTC and BMTC buses or if separate dedicated vehicles will be provided for KPS schools.

Education Minister’s Post Goes Viral

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa have officially made the announcement and shared the information on social media. They stated that this step has been taken to attract more children toward government schools and to develop KPS schools as model institutions. This decision by the government has brought significant financial relief to parents and poor students coming from remote villages to attend KPS schools.
