Kalaburagi: An anonymous acid attack threat letter sent to the Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University, Prof. Shashikanth S. Udikeri, has sent shockwaves through the academic community. It is understood that this threat was issued in retaliation for strict measures taken regarding a B.Ed evaluation scam.

Discontent: The perpetrators expressed dissatisfaction with the decisions of the fact-finding committee and the re-evaluation process.

Financial Stakes: The letter states that they secured B.Ed admissions by paying two lakh rupees and have been waiting for results for two years.

The Ultimatum: The letter warns that if marks decrease or if they fail due to the re-evaluation, they will throw acid on the VC's face, making him suffer for the rest of his life.

Detection of Fraud: In 2024, the Vice-Chancellor discovered that marks had been illegally tampered with during the B.Ed evaluation process.

Formation of Committee: Following a report from the university's internal committee, the VC brought the matter to the attention of the Government and the Governor. Consequently, the Governor formed an inquiry committee headed by a retired judge.
