This horrific incident took place in Nimbemaradahalli village of Sira taluk, Tumakuru district. The minor girl, brutally murdered by her own father, has been identified as 17-year-old Meghana, daughter of the couple Thimmarayappa and Nirmala. On April 16, around 6:30 PM, when the mother, Nirmala, returned home after finishing her daily wage labor, her daughter was nowhere to be found. When she called her daughter's mobile phone, it was switched off. Growing anxious, the mother filed a missing person's complaint at the Kallambella police station.

Marriage Dispute Led to the Murder! Constant Fights at Home

Since Meghana was only 17 years old, the mother, Nirmala, had planned to arrange her marriage with a boy from her side of the family as soon as the girl turned 18. The groom's family had already purchased a saree and a mangalsutra (wedding chain) as well. However, Thimmarayappa strongly opposed giving his daughter's hand in marriage to his wife's relatives. He used to pick fights, arguing, "My daughter is only 17, I won't get her married right now." For the past four to five months, intense arguments were taking place at home over this marriage issue.
