Putin highlighted that India is a completely sovereign nation that persistently acts in its own national interests, making it immune to external geopolitical pressure.
"India always acts as a sovereign country and under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, any potential threats of sanctions would boomerang immediately. We have been in close talks with Prime Minister Modi for a long while," Putin stated.
The Russian President praised New Delhi's realistic approach to international trade, noting that India refuses to let outside powers dictate its procurement decisions.
He emphasized that India focuses only on the technological advantages and economic viability of its partnerships.
Putin noted that India remains free to choose the products it considers most conversant and applicable, offering the best price-to-quality ratio.
He restated that Russia's bilateral cooperation with India is completely independent of the global political climate. "Nobody can dictate to us not to deliver that to India... Interestingly, Putin also referenced India's relationship with the US, describing the bilateral ties between New Delhi and Washington as "developing successfully." Probing into broader global economics, Putin used the platform to highlight how developing countries are outfacing traditional Western powers. He brought forward specific data to showcase the rise of the BRICS bloc (of which India and Russia are founding members)
He claimed that over the last five years, 49% of annual global GDP growth came from BRICS countries, compared to just 18% from the G7.
Putin stated that the BRICS share of global GDP based on PPP stands at 40%, while the G7 has shrunk to less than 29%.
He explicitly singled out India as a "key partner" and a dominant global player in the IT and software market.
