The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall in Karnataka’s northern and southern inland districts for the next two days, as the monsoon continues its intense activity across the state. A yellow alert has been issued for these districts, urging residents to stay safe and take necessary precautions.
In contrast, coastal districts such as Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada are likely to see a decrease in rainfall starting today, with expectations of intensified showers from August 15. In northern inland districts, including Bagalkote, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Yadgir, heavy rainfall is anticipated, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas.

This may lead to disruptions in road traffic, reduced visibility, and potential waterlogging in low-lying regions. Farmers, motorists, and the general public are advised to remain vigilant. Southern inland districts, such as Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Hassan, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru, are also under a yellow alert.
Rainfall intensity is expected to increase during the evening and night hours, with wind speeds reaching 40-50 km/h in some areas, which could cause trees to fall or damage power infrastructure. In coastal regions, rainfall is expected to subside temporarily but is likely to intensify again from August 15, with heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Authorities have ensured emergency services are on standby to address any challenges arising from the monsoon.
