Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Ragigudda Metro Station on RV Road to inaugurate the much-awaited Namma Metro Yellow Line. Stretching 19.15 kilometers from RV Road to Bommasandra, this line includes 16 stations. Built at a cost of ₹7,160 crore, the project is expected to significantly improve Bengaluru’s transportation system.

After flagging off the Yellow Line, PM Modi traveled by metro from Ragigudda to the Electronic City station at Konappana Agrahara. The event was attended by the Chief Minister, local MLAs, and other dignitaries. The Yellow Line connects key industrial and IT hubs such as Silk Board, Electronic City, and Bommasandra, offering substantial relief to traffic congestion issues.

During the inauguration, a group of workers at Konappana Agrahara expressed outrage over not being allowed to see the Prime Minister, leading to some commotion at the site. However, the police promptly intervened, using announcements to calm the workers. The incident did not escalate into a serious issue, and the program proceeded as scheduled.

On this occasion, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the third phase of the Bengaluru Metro. Spanning 44.65 kilometers, this ₹15,611 crore project will further expand the city’s transport network.

Bengaluru Urban Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that the project is a result of a joint partnership between the central and state governments. “This is not just a central government project; the state government holds a 50% share. Our goal is to serve the people, not to engage in credit politics,” he said.

This inauguration marks a historic moment for the residents of South Bengaluru, serving as a significant solution to traffic issues and a major contribution to improving the city’s transportation system.
