New Delhi: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has strongly condemned the killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza, terming it a "cold-blooded murder" and a "heinous crime." In her statement on X on August 12, 2025, she accused the Israeli state of targeting journalists to suppress the truth, particularly highlighting the deaths as an attempt to silence reporting ahead of a planned offensive in Gaza. The journalists, including Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim al-Thaher, Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammed Noufal, were killed in a targeted strike on a tent outside al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, as reported by Al Jazeera.

The Israeli military claimed that Anas al-Sharif was a Hamas operative, a charge Al Jazeera vehemently denied, accusing Israel of fabricating justifications to target journalists.
