"Will Not Yield to Tariff Pressure; Farmers' Interests are My Top Priority," Says PM Modi!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is resolutely working to protect India's agricultural sector and prioritize the welfare of farmers, despite mounting pressure from global powers.

Global powers are exerting pressure on India's agricultural sector, but their attempts to force India to bow down are failing. This is largely because Prime Minister Modi is acting as a protective shield for the country. He has reportedly refused trade and tariff demands from nations, including the US, choosing instead to prioritize the interests of Indian farmers.

In a powerful statement on August 7, 2025, at the M.S. Swaminathan Centenary Conference, PM Modi allayed fears by declaring, "The welfare of our farmers, livestock rearers, and fishermen is our main goal. I am prepared to endure any political or personal cost to safeguard their interests." India Lacks Long-Term Security with US Cooperation, Warns Economist Jeffrey Sachs.!

Since 2014, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, several schemes have been launched to directly assist farmers.

PM-Kisan Scheme: This initiative provides small and marginal farmers with an annual direct payment of ₹6,000. In the 2024-25 financial year, 9.5 crore farmers benefited from this scheme.

Soil Health Card Scheme: This program helps farmers understand the health of their land and use fertilizers more effectively. So far, 14 crore farmers have received these cards.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: This crop insurance scheme provides compensation for crop damage caused by natural disasters. Since 2016, over 78 crore applications have been insured, and more than 2.2 crore farmers have received over ₹1.83 lakh crore in compensation.

By remaining firm against foreign and political pressure, Prime Minister Modi aims to protect the livelihoods and dignity of Indian farmers. This commitment is strengthening the nation's agricultural sector and paving the way for a more prosperous future for farmers.
