Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has announced stringent measures to curb GST (Goods and Services Tax) fraud and tax leakage. The Karnataka Legislative Assembly approved the Karnataka Goods and Services Amendment Bill-2025 on Thursday, tabled by the minister. During a discussion in the Legislative Council, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda stated that he would present suggestions to simplify GST tax rules and address issues at the GST Council. BJP member P.H. Pujar urged reducing the interest rate on GST dues from 18% to 12%. The minister revealed that GST leakage caused a loss of ₹600 crore to the state in July, and ₹1,189 crore was received as compensation from the central government.
