R. Ashok, the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the BJP, launched a scathing attack on the anonymous complainant, alleging that the individual is attempting to tarnish the reputation of Dharmasthala. He stated that despite previous protests in the Assembly, the Siddaramaiah government had not formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). He accused Siddaramaiah of being surrounded by a "Tipu Gang" and claimed that the Chief Minister had previously shown no willingness to form an SIT. However, following the anonymous complaint, an SIT was suddenly constituted. Ashok alleged that this move was part of a conspiracy to defame Dharmasthala and its reputation.
He further accused the perpetrators of targeting Hindu temples, citing examples like the Tirupati Timmapa temple and attempts to malign Shani Deva. Ashok claimed that these "sinners" are spreading false propaganda against deities and demanded strict punishment for them.Speaking about Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Ashok alleged that Shivakumar’s statements indicate a conspiracy against Dharmasthala. He suggested that Shivakumar’s remarks imply the government’s complicity. Ashok insisted that the truth must come to light and urged that the SIT investigation should not be closed under any circumstances until the facts are revealed.
