On Friday, August 15, 2025, a devastating incident occurred at the Dargah Sharif Patte Shah near Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, where a wall collapse resulted in the deaths of six people. Devotees were gathered at the dargah, engaging in prayers as usual, when the tragic event unfolded.

The sounds of prayers and conversations were replaced by screams and cries for help.Local residents immediately rushed to assist, manually removing debris to rescue those trapped. However, clearing the debris, which was soaked by rain and mixed with mud, proved extremely challenging. The four-foot-high pile of rubble made the site even more hazardous.The incident has left the local community in shock. Preliminary suspicions point to the heavy rainfall as a possible cause of the structural failure. Authorities have promised a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause and ensure such tragedies are prevented in the future.
