New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a plan to implement the "Open Book Exam" system for 9th-grade students starting in 2025 as part of its educational reforms. Under this new examination format, students will be allowed to refer to textbooks, notes, and library materials while writing their exams. This change, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 framework, aims to assess students' abilities and critical thinking skills. In this new system, 9th-grade students will participate in three pen-and-paper assessments per term. During the exams, students can use their textbooks to reference necessary information and craft answers.
