Authorities have opened all 194 crest gates of the barrage and imposed a complete ban on vehicular movement across the bridge. As a result, the critical Raichur-Yadgir road link has been severed, isolating over 30 villages in the two districts. This has left local residents and commuters grappling with significant challenges.
To manage the deluge, over 2.68 lakh cusecs of water have been released from the Basavasagar Reservoir in Narayangpur, Yadgir, into the Krishna River. Additionally, 70,000 cusecs of water have been discharged into the Bhima River from the Sannati Bridge-cum-Barrage. The massive water release has exacerbated the flooding, cutting off connectivity to numerous villages in Raichur and Yadgir.
