Court Extends ED Custody of MLA K.C. Veerendra (Pappi) Until September 8 in Illegal Betting Case

Court Order: The court has directed that Veerendra remain in ED custody until September 8, 2025, allowing the agency to continue its probe.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating Congress MLA K.C. Veerendra (Pappi) from Chitradurga in connection with allegations of illegal online and offline betting linked to money laundering. A Bengaluru special court has ordered his custody with the ED to be extended until September 8, 2025, to facilitate further investigation.


Details: ED Raids: The ED conducted raids on Veerendra’s residence and other locations, seizing six luxury cars, cash, gold, gold biscuits, and cards. Details of Raids: On August 22-23, the ED carried out searches at 31 locations across Karnataka (Chitradurga, Bengaluru, Hubballi), Goa, Sikkim, Rajasthan (Jodhpur), and Mumbai. The raids resulted in the seizure of ₹12 crore in cash (including ₹1 crore in foreign currency), ₹6 crore worth of gold jewelry, 10 kg of silver, and six luxury vehicles. Additionally, ₹55 crore was frozen, including ₹40.69 crore in Veerendra’s nine bank accounts and one demat account, and ₹14.46 crore in 262 mule accounts.
