The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating Congress MLA K.C. Veerendra (Pappi) from Chitradurga in connection with allegations of illegal online and offline betting linked to money laundering. A Bengaluru special court has ordered his custody with the ED to be extended until September 8, 2025, to facilitate further investigation.

Details of Raids: On August 22-23, the ED carried out searches at 31 locations across Karnataka (Chitradurga, Bengaluru, Hubballi), Goa, Sikkim, Rajasthan (Jodhpur), and Mumbai. The raids resulted in the seizure of ₹12 crore in cash (including ₹1 crore in foreign currency), ₹6 crore worth of gold jewelry, 10 kg of silver, and six luxury vehicles. Additionally, ₹55 crore was frozen, including ₹40.69 crore in Veerendra’s nine bank accounts and one demat account, and ₹14.46 crore in 262 mule accounts.
