Adding to the controversy, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has voiced his strong opposition to the game.

Thackeray questioned the rationale behind engaging in a cricket match with Pakistan while Indian soldiers are risking their lives to protect the country. Referencing Prime Minister Modi's past statement, "Blood and water cannot flow together," Thackeray asked, "Then how can blood and cricket flow together? How can war and cricket happen at the same time?"

Furthermore, he criticized the central BJP government, asserting that a love for cricket cannot be equated with patriotism. In light of his objections, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has announced plans to protest in Maharashtra on Sunday to demand the cancellation of the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan.
