The protest has intensified following a similar land acquisition struggle in Devanahalli. Recent survey work by a Joint Measurement Committee has further angered the farmers, who have vowed not to stop their protest. This intensified action comes amidst reports of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar's keen interest in the project, with operations reportedly beginning 15 days ago.
Expressing their anguish, farmers lamented, "What should small-time farmers do if they lose their land? It has been difficult to live with the problem of land encroachment for the past 20 years." The situation remains tense, with police on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents. The government's next move is being closely watched. Also Read: New Twist in Dharmasthala Case...
