BJP Delegation Complains to Governor Over Caste Census; Backward Classes Panel Chief Rejects Claims.!

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the leaders alleged that the state government is trying to create new castes in the name of OBCs and that the Chief Minister has "forgotten his social stances." The delegation has appealed to the Governor to provide an appropriate solution to the issue.

A delegation of BJP leaders has filed a complaint with the Governor against the state government's upcoming caste census, alleging that it is attempting to include certain Hindu sub-castes with Christian communities in the OBC list. The complaint comes even as the Chairman of the Backward Classes Commission has dismissed the objections, clarifying that the move will not cause any trouble to anyone.

A delegation led by Yaduveer and V. Sunil Kumar met the Governor after a meeting of BJP leaders from backward classes held at a private hotel in the city. The delegation has demanded that the specific column in the survey that allows this classification be removed before the census begins. Meanwhile, Backward Classes Commission Chairman Madhusudan Naik has clarified his stand on the controversy. He stated that the name "Christian" will not cause any trouble and that the objections raised are not legally valid.

Naik emphasized that the commission is a statutory body and is not working under any political pressure regarding the caste survey. He added that people who have converted to Christianity are considered as Christians in the caste survey, and the move is a procedural one based on existing guidelines.
