High Court Rejects Plea to Direct DC for Vishnu Vardhan’s Birth Anniversary Event at Abhiman Studio: Here’s Why

The plea, filed by Timmaraju, president of VSS Abhiman Dr. Vishnu Vardhan Punyabhumi Trust and VSS Vishnu Sena Sanghatane, sought directions for the District Commissioner to consider their application dated June 9, 2025, for organizing the event. The matter was heard by a single-judge bench of Justice B.M. Shyam Prasad.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday rejected a plea requesting the Bengaluru Urban District Commissioner to be directed to permit a day-long celebration of actor Dr. VishnuVardhan’s 75th birth anniversary at Abhiman Studio on September 18.


The plea, filed by Timmaraju, president of VSS Abhiman Dr. Vishnu Vardhan Punyabhumi Trust and VSS Vishnu Sena Sanghatane, sought directions for the District Commissioner to consider their application dated June 9, 2025, for organizing the event. After hearing the arguments, the bench noted that the court had already issued several directions to the Special District Commissioner on January 13, 2025, regarding the ownership dispute between Abhiman Studio and the state government. Therefore, issuing further orders was not feasible. The court issued notices to the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department, Bengaluru Urban District Commissioner, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Bengaluru Zone), Bengaluru South Taluk Tahsildar, a member-secretary of Dr. Vishnu Vardhan Foundation, and B.S. During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel, K.S. Arun, argued that the birth anniversary and death anniversary of Dr. Vishnu Vardhan have been celebrated annually since 2016 at the studio. In previous years, the District Commissioner had granted permission with certain conditions, but this time, approval was denied. He emphasized that this is an emotional issue for millions of Vishnu Vardhan’s fans and urged the court to direct the District Commissioner to grant permission for the event.
