The Kerala High Court has directed the police to complete the investigation within four months in connection with allegations of unauthorized public fundraising for the installation of an idol of Lord Ayyappa at the Sabarimala Sri Dharma Shastha Temple.

The Kerala High Court, while disposing of a suo motu case, directed the police to complete the investigation within four months regarding allegations of unauthorized fund collection for installing an idol of Lord Ayyappa at the Sabarimala Sri Dharma Sastha Temple.

The court issued this directive on Tuesday in a suo motu case and a related case involving the Kerala government. The division bench, comprising Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan V and K.V. The court noted that the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) had revoked permission granted to Dr. E.K. Sahadevan, chairman of Lotus Multi-Speciality Hospital, for installing a 2-foot-tall, 150-kg idol at Sabarimala. The bench stated there was no reason to keep the case pending and issued several directions, including that the police must continue the investigation and complete it within four months. The court also ordered that approximately ₹6 lakh, seized by the police in connection with the case, be presented before the magistrate for handling as per legal procedures.
