Transport Minister Ramalingareddy Writes to Home Minister Seeking Cancellation of Fines for KSRTC Bus Traffic Violations…!!

Public transport buses, particularly government-operated ones, are essential for traveling from one place to another and operate daily. However, when these government buses violate traffic rules, fines are imposed as a matter of course. The total number of cases involving KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) buses violating traffic rules stands at 2,69,198.

Bengaluru: Public transport buses, particularly government-operated ones, are essential for traveling from one place to another and operate daily. However, when these government buses violate traffic rules, fines are imposed as a matter of course. However, Transport Minister Ramalingareddy has written a letter to the Home Minister requesting the waiver of these traffic fines. With a 50% discount, the total fine amount comes to ₹6,64,96,400. The Transport Minister has appealed to the Home Minister to waive this fine amount entirely.There are a total of 24,000 buses in the state. Upon review, 1,95,009 cases are related to Lane Discipline Violations. Even if vehicles slightly touch lane markings while moving, cameras installed at those locations record it as a lane violation, resulting in fines. Additionally, 58,499 cases have been recorded for not wearing seat belts, even when seat belts were used. As per regulations, if a fine is imposed and a receipt is obtained for an offense within a 24-hour period, showing that receipt elsewhere would exempt the vehicle from further fines for the same offense.read also: Neeraj Chopra Storms into World Athletics Championship Final, Set for Epic Showdown with Arshad Nadeem..!


However, currently, cases are being registered district-wise on highways. For example, on a single day, fines have been imposed on the same vehicle for the same type of violation in Ramanagara, Mandya, and Mysuru districts.
