Ahead of the elections, the Bihar government has decided to provide a monthly allowance of ₹1,000 to unemployed graduates as a form of financial support. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the decision, stating the aid will be given for a period of two years under the "Chief Minister's Certain Self-Help Allowance Scheme."
In a post on his X account, Kumar highlighted that job creation and employment have been key priorities for his government since 2005. He reiterated the state's commitment to youth empowerment and shared the government's goal of creating one crore jobs in the government and private sectors over the next five years. Previously, the scheme was only available to candidates who had passed the intermediate examination. Now, the benefit has been extended to graduates between the ages of 20 and 25 who are neither employed nor self-employed. This move is part of the state's flagship "7 Nishchay" program, which aims to provide comprehensive support to its citizens.
