Today marks the last solar eclipse of the year. Skywatchers worldwide are eagerly anticipating this celestial event. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, blocking the Sun's light from reaching Earth. The eclipse today will be a partial solar eclipse, where the Moon will partially obscure the bright disk of the Sun.
For centuries, this phenomenon has been a symbol of both scientific wonder and cultural beliefs. Although this eclipse will not be visible in India, astronomers have stated that it will begin at 10:59 PM IST tonight, reach its maximum at midnight, and conclude by 3:00 AM on September 22. This celestial event coincides with the Pitru Paksha Amavasya. Besides India, people in Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica, and the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean regions will be able to view the eclipse. It is strongly advised not to view the eclipse with the naked eye, as the Sun's intense light can cause permanent eye damage. It is recommended to use proper eclipse viewing equipment or ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses that can filter out harmful ultraviolet and infrared radiation.
