Additionally, references to various Hindu castes alongside the Christian community have been removed. Amid strong opposition to the caste census, the State Caste Census Commission has removed 33 castes from the list, as stated by Backward Classes Commission Chairman Madhusudan Naik and Commissioner Dayanand.In a previous survey, there was a mention of "Christian" in the caste list, which led to their inclusion. However, this issue sparked significant debate in the media. Individuals can declare any caste they wish, and even if a caste is not among the 1,561 listed, they can provide that information. There is also an option for those who do not wish to specify a caste, with an "Others" column provided. To avoid confusion, the names of certain castes have been removed from the list. Those who wish to declare such castes can still do so, but there is no need to make this public. Protestant Christian, Christian Protestant, Syrian Christian, and SC Converted Christian categories have been retained, while 33 other castes have been excluded. No opposition was raised regarding Brahmin Muslim or Jain communities, so those have been retained. After the survey, experts will collect data on all castes and categorize them accordingly. Those who have converted to another religion will be classified under the religion they converted to and will not be included in their original caste.
