Rekha, a mother of two, had separated from her first husband and obtained a divorce. Some time ago, she relocated from Shiradi to Bengaluru, where she worked at a private company. Rekha helped Lohithashwa secure a job as a driver in the same company where she worked. The couple later married in a temple. While Rekha was standing at a bus stop with her 12-year-old daughter, Lohithashwa attacked her. He stabbed her twice initially, followed by seven more blows with a weapon, before fleeing the scene. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Kamakshipalya police station. The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend Lohithashwa, but despite medical efforts, Rekha succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
