Today in New Delhi, Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, Shri V. Somanna, met with the Honorable Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, to discuss various national highway projects in Tumakuru district.

Regarding the 288-km-long Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR), proposed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana at an estimated cost of ₹13,139 crore to alleviate traffic congestion in Bengaluru, the 143.172-km stretch connecting Dabaspet-Doddaballapur-Hosakote has been completed. For the remaining 144-km section connecting Dabaspet-Magadi-Ramanagara-Kanakapura-Mudagadapalli, the final notification for land acquisition has been approved, but compensation distribution to landowners is pending. It was urged to release compensation to landowners across approximately 150 villages and to commence the remaining work at the earliest.
