Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will launch its indigenous 4G network service across India on September 27, 2025 (tomorrow). This historic event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Inauguration and Rollout: The network, built entirely with indigenous technology, will be activated across over 98,000 sites (towers) in a single day. It is cloud-based and easily upgradable to 5G.
Indigenous Technology: Developed by a consortium led by TCS, C-DoT, and Tejas Networks, the network was completed in 22 months. Coverage: The service will cater to 22 million subscribers, including rural areas (e.g., 240 villages in Uttar Pradesh). Under the Digital Bharat Nidhi scheme, 29,000-30,000 villages will achieve 100% 4G saturation.
Investment and Future: With an investment of ₹25,000 crore, 1 lakh towers have been installed. A ₹47,000 crore plan is in place to launch 5G services soon, positioning India as a global leader in telecom manufacturing.
Launch Event: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the service from Jharsuguda, Odisha, with parallel launches in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and other states.
