Asia Cup 2025: India Snubs Asia Cup Trophy Presentation, Celebrates Without The Trophy: A Historic Act of Defiance.!

In the Asia Cup final held in Dubai, India created a rare moment in cricket history by refusing to accept the trophy after defeating Pakistan. Team India players declined to receive the trophy from Pakistan’s minister and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi, and instead celebrated with smiles by pretending to accept an imaginary trophy.

The thrilling Asia Cup final in Dubai yesterday made history not just for India’s massive victory over Pakistan, but for an unprecedented controversy that followed. India refused to accept the championship trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who serves as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Pakistan's Interior Minister, and the current President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Players Show Defiance, Trophy Removed -

With dignitaries waiting on the stage, the Indian players reportedly maintained their distance and expressed their resistance to accepting the trophy from Naqvi. Adding to the tension, Pakistani players showed their displeasure by remaining inside their dressing room.

At one point, suspicion arose whether the presentation ceremony would happen at all, as the trophy itself was removed from the ground. The ceremony eventually began an hour later, with Indian players receiving various individual awards from other dignitaries.

The Snub and the Celebration -

Reports indicate that the Indian team’s decision to boycott Naqvi was a reaction to his alleged inflammatory remarks following the match. Indian players also reportedly refused to shake hands or engage in post-match communication with the Pakistani players, further escalating the tension.

By refusing to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, India created a first-of-its-kind record in cricket history: a champion team celebrating its victory without physically receiving the championship trophy. Team India players were seen celebrating by symbolically lifting an imaginary trophy. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has since confirmed that the Indian team would not be accepting the trophy under the current circumstances. This unusual event is set to be a significant moment in the history of both cricket and India-Pakistan relations.
