PM Narendra Modi Shares Special Article - RSS's Century of National Service

On the occasion of the RSS centenary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a special article. In this article, written to mark 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he praised the organisation’s century-long journey of national service.

Marking the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a special article commemorating the organization's hundred-year journey of national service. He praised the RSS for achieving the goal of nation-building through character development and dedicated social service.

The Prime Minister penned a comprehensive article reflecting on the RSS's significant milestone, established a century ago on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami. Here is a summary of his address:

The Journey of a Century -

PM Modi noted that the RSS created history on this Vijaya Dashami by completing its centenary. He highlighted that despite continuous plots and attempts to suppress the organization, the Sangh, as a movement, never allowed bitterness to take root. This is because its Swayamsevaks (volunteers) believe they are not separate from society but that society is formed by them.

He remarked that the establishment of the RSS a hundred years ago on Vijaya Dashami was an expression of ancient heritage, manifesting in various forms to address the challenges of the time and the eternal national consciousness of India. He considered it a privilege for the current generation of Swayamsevaks to witness this historic centennial.

The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt greetings on this occasion to the countless volunteers dedicated to the service of the nation and its people. He paid respectful tribute to the founder and ideal guide of the Sangh, Param Poojya Dr. Hedgewar Ji. To commemorate this remarkable 100-year journey, the Government of India has also released a special postage stamp and coin.

Path to Nation Building -

From its inception, the Sangh has consistently dedicated itself to nation-building. To achieve this, it chose the path of 'Vyakti Nirman' (character development). For the RSS, nation-building is achieved through character development. The daily Shakha (branch) system is an inspiring place where every Swayamsevak undergoes a transformative process, beginning a journey from 'I' to 'We'.

Standing Strong in Times of Crisis -

The Sangh has always been synonymous with patriotism and service, consistently stepping forward to serve the needy and the displaced. Swayamsevaks are often the first responders, working on the front lines, enduring personal hardship to alleviate the suffering of others a core tenet that strengthens the soul of the nation. Guiding Principles for National Development -

The Sangh's 'Panchaparivartan' (Five Transformations) guides every Swayamsevak in overcoming contemporary challenges. These are:

  • Swabodh (Self-Awareness): Personal realization.

  • Samajik Samaras (Social Harmony): Social justice and harmony.

  • Kutumb Prabodhan (Family Enlightenment): Upholding family values.

  • Nagarik Shishtachar (Civic Etiquette): Promoting civic consciousness.

  • Paryavaran (Environment): Protecting the environment for future generations.

The Prime Minister concluded by offering thanks and sincere best wishes to everyone participating in the Sangh's campaign to guide India to become a Developed Nation by 2047, guided by these resolutions as the organization embarks on its second century.
