Bengaluru: Electricity consumers in the Greater Bangalore Area (GBA) may notice a slight change in their September 2025 electricity bills. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), which falls under the Energy Department, is undergoing a major software upgrade in its IT division, leading to this temporary adjustment.
Due to the software upgrade, meter readers are currently unable to calculate bills based on the actual present monthly usage. Therefore, the September electricity bills, expected in the first half of October, will be calculated based on the average consumption of the previous three months.
This new calculation method is set to begin in June 2025. Meter readers will not be taking physical readings between October 1st and 15th. BESCOM has clarified that this is a temporary arrangement to ensure continuous bill distribution despite the system upgrade. iQOO Z10R 5G (Aquamarine, 8GB RAM, 128GB Storage) | 32MP 4K Selfie Camera | Quad-Curved AMOLED Display | Dimensity 7400 Processor with 750K+ AnTuTu
BESCOM confirms that customers can still pay their bills using the BESCOM Mitra app, UPI applications, or at nearby sub-division offices. These temporary changes are applicable only to the Greater Bangalore area. Consumers in other urban areas will receive their bills as usual.
BESCOM assures that these changes will not negatively impact any category of customers, including Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries. The utility stated that efforts will be made to obtain the actual meter reading for the month of September to the extent possible.
