The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a one-year fee waiver for biometric updates of children’s Aadhaar cards, effective from October 1, 2025.

At this age, biometric details such as fingerprints and iris scans are not recorded, as they are not fully developed. Under current regulations, children must update their biometrics, including fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs, after turning 5. During the waiver period, biometric updates for children aged 5 to 7 and 15 to 17 will be free of charge. However, after this one-year period, a fee of ₹125 per biometric update will apply, as stated by UIDAI.

This fee waiver aims to ease the financial burden on families while ensuring that children’s Aadhaar records remain up-to-date.
