Bengaluru: Robert Woo, the India head of Foxconn, renowned for iPhone manufacturing, met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Vidhana Soudha on Sunday to discuss plans for increased investment in the state. Robert Woo detailed Foxconn’s recent projects in Karnataka, including an iPhone assembly unit (Project Elephant) and electric vehicle (EV) component manufacturing (Project Cheetah), expressing interest in further investments. These projects are expected to create over 40,000 jobs. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah highlighted Karnataka’s robust legal framework, cultural ethos, and skilled human resources, assuring Foxconn of all necessary facilities, including water, electricity, and roads. He stated that Karnataka is a leader in the industrial sector, and this collaboration with Foxconn will provide a new impetus to the state’s economic growth.Minister Patil noted that Foxconn’s investment will boost technological innovation in the state. The company, which signed an MoU last year, is now keen on setting up a supplementary plant in the Devanahalli ITIR region.
