Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that a recommendation will be made to the Central Government to name Bengaluru’s Namma Metro as ‘Basava Metro’ in honor of Vishwaguru Basavanna.

No one is superior by caste. Talent and knowledge are not exclusive to any caste, he asserted, condemning caste-based discrimination as a conspiracy of the elite. Siddaramaiah reiterated that the government honors Basavanna’s dream of a casteless, classless society.

Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution echoes his ideals. The mandatory display of Basavanna’s portrait in government offices reflects this respect. We will recommend naming Namma Metro as ‘Basava Metro’ to the Centre. If it were a state project, I would have declared it today, he added.
