The Election Commission of India will officially announce the polling schedule for the 243 assembly constituencies today at 4 PM. A fierce contest is expected between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan.

The much-anticipated announcement of the Bihar Assembly Election dates will be made today at 4 PM, drawing nationwide attention to the state's political landscape. The Election Commission of India will hold a press conference to officially release the schedule for elections to the 243 assembly constituencies, putting an end to weeks of speculation.

Led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the Commission recently conducted a two-day visit to Bihar, meeting with senior state officials and representatives from major political parties, including BJP, JD(U), RJD, and Congress. The team reviewed preparations to ensure a free and fair election, and with these arrangements now complete, the election dates are set to be announced.

This election is expected to witness a direct showdown between the ruling NDA coalition, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan. Additionally, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj is likely to play a significant role in the electoral contest. The current assembly’s term ends on November 22, necessitating the formation of a new government by then. In the 243-member assembly, the NDA currently holds 131 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan has 111 seats.The Election Commission has introduced 17 new reforms for this election, including webcasting at all polling stations, colored photographs of candidates on EVMs, and dedicated counters outside polling booths for voters to deposit their mobile phones. Approximately 7.42 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in this election.
