Bengaluru, October 6, 2025 – In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Karnataka government has transferred the Managing Director (MD) of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Anbukumar (2004-batch IAS officer), and assigned him as Secretary of the Housing Department. Concurrently, Sivakumar KB, IAS (KN:2010), currently serving as Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Services in Bengaluru, has been given additional charge as MD of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). This move replaces the previous BMTC chief and aims to streamline public transport operations amid ongoing urban mobility challenges in the state capital.

Sivakumar KB, a 2010-batch officer with prior experience in disaster management and tourism sectors, brings a fresh administrative perspective to BMTC. His additional charge is expected to focus on enhancing electric bus adoption, improving commuter safety, and addressing traffic congestion in Bengaluru. The BMTC, which operates over 6,000 buses daily and serves millions of passengers, has been under scrutiny for service delays and infrastructure upgrades.
