Tragedy Strikes Koppal Pilgrimage: Four Pedestrians Ki**lled in Two Separate Accidents.!

In Koppal, four people died and several others were seriously injured when a private bus and a bike collided with pilgrims heading for the Huligemma temple darshan. Police visited the site and have initiated an investigation.

A total of four pilgrims were tragically killed in two separate road accidents in the Koppal district while undertaking a pilgrimage (Padayatra) to the Huligemma Temple at Huligi. The devotees were hit by a private bus and a motorcycle, respectively, in these devastating incidents.

Bus Accident Kills Three

The first and more severe incident occurred on Tuesday on National Highway 50 near Kukanapalli village in Koppal taluk. A private sleeper coach bus lost control and ran over a group of pilgrims walking to the Huligemma Temple. Three individuals were killed instantly at the scene.

The deceased have been identified as Annapurna (40), Prakash (25), and Sharanappa (19), all residents of Thallihala village in the Ron taluk of Gadag district.

Police reported that the private bus, traveling on the Sindagi-Bengaluru route, swerved and struck the pedestrians. Four others sustained serious injuries in the same incident and have been admitted to the Koppal District Hospital. The tragedy struck when the pilgrims were only three hours away from reaching the temple.

Separate Accident Claims Fourth Life -

In a separate, yet similar incident involving pilgrims heading to the same temple, another pedestrian was killed after being hit by a motorcycle near Bhanapur village in Kuknur taluk.

The deceased youth was identified as Viresh Hallikeri (28). He was part of a group of nine pilgrims walking from Kuknur to the temple. Another pilgrim, Ramesh, was injured in the collision.
