The ongoing 'Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12' reality show, which recently began its run, has run into a major regulatory crisis after the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) issued an order to shut down the filming location. The notice mandates the immediate closure of Wells Studios and Entertainment for allegedly releasing untreated sewage directly into the drainage system.
The Big Boss set, located in the Bidadi Industrial Area, is accused of violating the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. The KSPCB notice explicitly directs Wells Studios to cease all operations immediately due to the unauthorized discharge of effluent. The order instructs the Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner to immediately seize the unit and directs BESCOM (the electricity supply company) to disconnect the studio's power supply. This directive comes just one week into the broadcast of Bigg Boss Kannada 12, throwing the show's immediate future into question.
The controversy arose after Ramanagara officials inspected the studio which is located in a designated green zone on March 19 and June 11, 2024. The Board stated that the sewage generated from the amusement park (which houses the Big Boss set) was being discharged directly without treatment, causing environmental pollution. Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the studio had failed to obtain the necessary Consent for Operation from the KSPCB.
With 17 contestants currently inside the Big Boss house and the show entering its second week, this closure notice creates significant uncertainty regarding the continuation of the season. All eyes are now on Wells Studios to see how they will address the environmental violation and navigate this sudden halt in production.
