Citing the mounting workload on teachers due to the ongoing Caste Census (Social, Educational, and Economic Survey) in Karnataka, the Karnataka State Government Employees Association has formally appealed to the government to extend the Dasara holidays until October 17.
The Association submitted a request to School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa, highlighting the physical and mental stress teachers are enduring. Teachers have been engaged in the survey work since September 22, interrupting their scheduled Dasara vacation.
The state's primary and high schools were initially slated to have their Dasara holidays from September 20 to October 7. However, the deployment of teaching staff for the controversial census work has effectively canceled a major portion of their break. With the survey deadline already extended until October 24 in Bengaluru and October 12 in other districts the Association argues that teachers require a period of rest and recuperation. The request emphasizes the need for the government to cooperate with teachers by granting the extension until October 17.
The government has yet to issue a response to the plea. The situation underscores the significant pressure faced by teachers and the logistical challenges of conducting the extensive state-wide survey. The education community now awaits the government's decision on whether to grant the extended break. Also Read: Trump Rule Impact: 44% Drop in U.S. Visas for Indian Students..!
