Bengaluru: Kengeri police have dismantled a sophisticated online scam network that lured people in India and abroad with promises of high-return investment schemes through social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

According to police sources, the syndicate operated by promoting foreign investment schemes, targeting financially vulnerable individuals with enticing messages. They initially offered small returns to gain trust, then pressured victims into investing larger sums.

The scam spanned India, Europe, and several Asian countries, amassing crores of rupees.In one documented case, a single victim lost ₹50 lakh. From morning to evening yesterday, Kengeri police conducted coordinated raids at seven locations across Bengaluru. The operations targeted an office near the southern IT hub, ride-share centers, and private residences. The raids led to the seizure of 19 laptops, 40 mobile phones, 11 pen drives, 42 SIM cards, 4 iPads, 2 hard disks, 5 CPUs, 13 seals, 10 memory cards, and foreign currency.
