Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced at Vidhana Soudha that Dussehra holidays for government and aided schools in Karnataka have been extended until October 18, 2025.

This decision aims to utilize teachers for completing the ongoing caste census across the state. To ensure its effective completion, teachers requested additional time, prompting the government to extend the holidays. During this period, teachers will focus on data collection, analysis, and report preparation for the census.

According to the Chief Minister, the caste census is crucial for understanding Karnataka’s social and economic structure.
