New Delhi, October 7, 2025: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that electric vehicle (EV) prices in India will be on par with petrol vehicles within the next 4-6 months. What Did Gadkari Say?

Government Vision: The focus is on local manufacturing over imports, reducing costs, pollution, and boosting self-reliance. India aims to become the world's No. 1 automobile industry in the next 5 years.

Other Initiatives: Promotion of electric tractors, hydrogen fuel vehicles, and ethanol production (farmers have earned an extra ₹45,000 crore from corn-based ethanol).
