The city of Gangavathi in Koppal district has been gripped by shock after Venkatesh Kuruba, the President of the BJP Yuva Morcha, was brutally murdered late last night. The incident occurred while he was returning home after having dinner with friends.

The horrific murder took place on October 8, around 2 AM, in front of a private hospital on Koppal Road. Venkatesh Kuruba, 31, was riding his bike towards Gangavathi after dinner at Devicamp when he was ambushed. A group of assailants, who were following him in a car, reportedly rammed his bike to block his path. They then attacked him mercilessly with machetes and long swords before fleeing the scene.

Upon receiving the information, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Siddanagouda Patil immediately visited the crime spot and commenced an investigation. The exact motive behind the brutal killing remains unknown. A case has been registered at the Gangavathi City Police Station, and the police have intensified their probe. The getaway vehicle used in the murder was later found abandoned in the HRS Colony. The accused used a Tata Indica car bearing the registration number KA 01 AC 8729 (a Bengaluru registration). The assailants abandoned the vehicle after one of its tires reportedly burst. Police have since seized lethal weapons from the car. The investigation is currently proceeding with the assistance of forensic experts and a dog squad, as the police launch a massive manhunt to apprehend the accused.
