Bengaluru: The influx of people speaking diverse languages in Bengaluru has led to an increase in interactions—and unfortunately, conflicts—between locals and outsiders, particularly involving language barriers. This has resulted in a rise in altercations between non-Kannada-speaking passengers and auto-rickshaw drivers.
In a recent incident echoing a previous case, an auto driver was caught on video verbally abusing and attempting to assault a young woman after she cancelled a booking. Just weeks ago, another auto driver had been arrested by police after abusing and attempting to attack a woman; he was warned and released. Now, a similar episode has resurfaced, highlighting ongoing safety concerns for women commuters. Also Read: Hassanamba Devi Darshan Begins Today: Dress Code Mandatory for Devotees
The altercation reportedly began over a cancelled booking. The young woman, who had boarded another auto, was confronted by the driver of the cancelled ride. While filming her, he hurled abusive language at her and even tried to physically attack her. Frightened by the aggression, the woman managed to record the entire incident on her phone. The driver of the auto she was in remained silent and did not intervene, after which her vehicle drove away from the scene. The exact location of the incident remains unconfirmed, but the video has sparked outrage on social media.
