State governments are engaged in a blame game, and an institutional probe is necessary." Solicitor General Tushar Mehta opposed the petition, stating, "Tiwari reads newspaper reports and rushes to the court. The concerned state governments are taking steps to address the issue." He further assured, "States like Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh are taking action. We cannot assume states won’t act. They will definitely take measures."Tiwari countered, claiming there was a lack of proper laboratory or clinical testing. Also Read: Voting Rights for Undertrial Prisoners: Supreme Court Issues Key Directive!

Mehta responded, "Even when all institutions are proactive, if something happens, Tiwari reads the papers and comes here." The court, unconvinced by the arguments, dismissed the PIL.The dismissal reflects the court's trust in state mechanisms to handle the issue, while Tiwari’s plea highlighted concerns over recurring incidents of substandard drugs and inadequate regulatory oversight.
