Heavy Rain Alert for Karnataka: Orange Alert for Kolar, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapur Districts; Rain Expected Till October 14!

Karnataka is expected to experience heavy rainfall for the next few days, with an orange alert issued specifically for Ramanagara, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur districts. Due to the heavy rains in Bengaluru as well, road traffic has been severely disrupted. The weather department has urged people to take precautionary measures.

The intense spell of rain is set to continue across Karnataka for the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an 'Orange Alert' for Ramanagara, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur districts. Heavy rainfall has already led to significant disruption and traffic chaos in Bengaluru city.

The IMD has forecast an increase in the intensity of rain, especially in the South Interior parts of Karnataka, with a weather warning extended until Monday. The ongoing monsoon is expected to withdraw within a week, paving the way for the post-monsoon (or North-East monsoon) showers.

Many districts in Karnataka are likely to witness heavy downpour, with the continuous rainfall anticipated to persist until October 14. Authorities have advised citizens in urban areas to remain vigilant and take precautions against the havoc caused by waterlogging and floods, as the intensity is expected to gradually decrease after this period. Bengaluru City Hit by Intense Showers -

In Bengaluru, heavy rain that began on Friday evening has severely hampered vehicular movement in multiple parts of the city, compounding the disruption caused by recent wet weather. The forecast for today indicates a cloudy sky with the likelihood of thunderstorms and intense rainfall.

The rain, which started in the evening and has continued today, has brought cool air and a drop in temperature to various areas of the city. However, the record rainfall has led to severe impediments to road traffic, with waterlogging and potential transport stoppages. Commuters have been advised by the Meteorological Department to exercise caution while travelling. Also Read: Cough Syrup Death Case: Supreme Court Dismisses PIL Seeking Independent Probe
