New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is embarking on a tour of the Kalyana Karnataka region starting tomorrow. Using the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds, one agricultural products value addition unit has been established in each of the seven districts of this region. These units have been set up with the aim of increasing farmers' income. In Vijayanagara district, there is a unit for the production of chana beans, roasted chana, chana chikki, deseeded tamarind block, and tamarind pulp (chana – 200 kg/hr; tamarind – 100 kg/hr). In Ballari district, chilli powder and chilli flakes (250 kg/hr), in Koppal, fruit pulp, fruit juice, and amchur powder (500 kg/hr), and in Raichur district, chilla premix, chana beans, and toor dal mill (350 kg/hr) have been established.Also Read: Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian: "AI Won't Take Jobs, It Creates Opportunities"!
In Yadgir district, peanut butter, roasted peanuts, and peanut oil (300 kg/hr), in Kalaburagi, millet flakes, pops, flour, and whole millets (500 kg/hr), and in Bidar, soybean tofu and soya milk (300 kg/hr) production units have been set up. The minister is eager to meet the farmers who have received training from these agricultural processing centers, the benefiting farmers, farmer producer organizations, and their families. This scheme is expected to enable agriculture-based job creation and economic empowerment of farmers in the backward areas of Kalyana Karnataka.
